Healthy Child, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the Environmental Working Group will expose the hidden dangers of chemicals found in our everyday environment and discuss simple solutions to avoid harmful exposures.

A few days ago, the US Food and Drug Administration released their draft report on the safety of bisphenol A, or BPA, concluding that current levels in cans and baby bottles are safe. Opponents of the report claim the decision was based on industry funded studies. “It’s ironic FDA would choose to ignore dozens of studies funded by (the National Institutes of Health) — this country’s best scientists — and instead rely on flawed studies from industry,” Pete Myers, chief scientist for Environmental Health Sciences, told The Associated Press.

24 million children ride on school buses for an average of an hour and a half every school day. It’s convenient and it’s safe, but old diesel buses spew a lot of nasty air pollution. And it’s not just bad for the air quality around the bus, it leaks inside the bus where developing lungs are exposed to it the entire ride.
